Haha, them's fighting words! Du Fu is my favourite poet, and I will make it my mission to persuade you of his wonderfulness, with sneaky and disarming translations :-)
(But I know what you mean - he did spend an awful lot of time complaining that the world had come to an end. I think we have to grant him that: his world very nearly did come to an end, and he made some beautiful poems out of it. But the real joy of Du Fu is that he writes about loads and loads of other stuff as well as those big heavy dirges, and I will definitely be posting many different moods of Du.)
