Yeah, there are lots of different versions of the Chang'e myth. I think they weren't as systematic about writing their myths down early on, so the myths didn't get standardised in the way that Greek myths did. Chinese mythology is rich!

Now you're just making me want to go and translate more Chinese myths! That's a really good idea, actually... So much great work has been done translating and updating and rewriting and keeping alive the European myths (Neil Gaiman on Norse myths FTW). So little has been done on Chinese myths in comparison - there's not much in Chinese, let alone in English. So that's definitely a potential future project.
